Nichi is a Japanese dictionary app developed and published by Nichi (nichijiten.com). This page explains how you can request deletion of your account and associated data.
How to Request Account Deletion
To request deletion of your data, follow these steps:
- Open the Nichi app and navigate to Settings → Add-ons → Delete Account, or
- Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request."
In your email, please include:
- The email address associated with your purchase.
- Your Registration ID (if available), e.g., NICHI-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
We will process your deletion request within 30 days and send a confirmation email once complete.
Data That Will Be Deleted
Upon processing your deletion request, the following data will be permanently removed from our systems:
- Email address — removed from our database and mailing lists.
- Registration ID — deactivated and deleted from our license server.
- Contact form submissions — any messages or support inquiries you have sent us.
- Marketing preferences — any opt-in consent records.
Data That May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained for a limited period after your deletion request, as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:
- Purchase transaction records — basic transaction data (purchase date, amount, product) may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance obligations. This data will be anonymized where possible.
- Stripe payment records — payment processing data held by our payment processor (Stripe) is subject to Stripe's data retention policies. You may contact Stripe directly to request deletion of payment data they hold.
Locally Stored Data
Some data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:
- Theme preferences — stored in your browser's local storage.
- Cached Registration ID — stored locally for convenience.
- App settings and saved words — stored locally on your device.
This local data is deleted automatically when you uninstall the Nichi app or clear your browser data. It is not included in server-side deletion requests because we do not have access to it.
